Construction material used in green buildings depends on the size of the construction and its location. Small houses where only a single family is staying may be constructed from clay bricks, bamboo and other wood available locally. For large office buildings housing hundreds of people, more conventional construction material may be used.
Construction material used in green buildings include 1. Bamboo, straw and lumber from forests which are managed so that they sustain themselves 2. Recycling material from older buildings which are demolished. Hardware, windows, doors, flooring and plumbing can frequently be reused, reducing cost and saving the cost of disposal of the waste 3. Insulation may be made from material which does not contain toxic material 4. Organic paints may be used instead of lead based paints. |
